Millennials are those who were born between 1981 and 1996. There are other new terms such as Xennials (born in late 1970s or early 1980s) and Gen X-ers (born between 1965 and 1980). These are not precise terms. It is not about the year of birth alone; the classification is based on typical characteristics of such generations.

  But what about us – those born in the 1930s and 1940s? We have no fancy names, a waning, fading generation, now in their 80s and 90s, quietly marching towards their extinction.

  You may call us post-War generation or Pre-Independence generation, both terms have lost their meaning and significance. We are part of history and the world and India have moved far away from those tragic and momentous events.

  I was born in 1937. We lived in a ‘town’, if we may call it so. A bigger village, with a High School, a Local Fund Hospital, a Post Office, one small private bank, a Magistrate’s....
