This is a good book for people who want to know about India, especially of an Indian society that is in transition; particularly at the turn of the century, but beware it only gives an introductory view.

What is the book about?

Shashi Tharoor; politician, former under-secretary-general of the United Nations and a prize winning author, in his book ‘The elephant, the tiger and the cell phone’ talks about India of the first decade of the twenty first century, which is confident and is marching towards a bright future. This book is a collection of 69 opinioned essays which have been published in Indian press, and one chapter on an A to Z on India.
