“Epithet of Gentleness” and “Throbe of Indian culture -that was Dr. Rajendra Prasad! Born on December 5, 1884 as the youngest son of Mahavira Sahai, who was a scholar in Persian and Sanskrit languages, Rajendra Prasad evolved to be a famous Indian Politician and educator. After completing his traditional elementary education under the guidance of a Moulavi, an accomplished Muslim Scholar, he was sent to the Chapra District School and then to T.K. Ghosh’s Academy in Patna for schooling. He secured first rank in the entrance examination to the University of Calcutta. He was an active member of the Dawn Society run by Satheesh Chandra Mukharjee and his sister Niveditha. Prasad played an active role in the formation of Bihari students’ conference in 1906, which was the first organization of its kind in India.
