Barks and Mews

Cats mew, dogs bark but sparrows? Here are cries of some birds and animals:

Apes gibber. Cocks crow. Mice squeak. Pigeons coo. Tigers growl. Parrots talk. Horses whinny. Bulls bellow. Sparrows chirp.

 

Homonyms all

Homonyms, or multiple-meaning words, share the same spelling or pronunciation but have different meanings:

Ail = to be ill. Ale = A beer. Aisle = Walkway. Isle = Island. ------------------------

Broach = Raise a subject for discussion. Brooch = Ornamental pin fastened to clothing. ---------------------------

Yack = Variant spelling of yak, denoting a trivial conversation. Yak = A large hairy ox used in Tibet. ----------------------------

Bark = Tough outer covering of a tree. Bark = Sharp explosive cry of dog, fox or seal; utter a command or an order abruptly and aggressively. Barque = Sailing ship, typically with three masts.....
