SPORTS AND EDUCATION The Indian Story

   In the age of competition has sports taken a back seat in the eyes of Indian parents? They are obsessed with board marks, getting a good job and a well settled life. Anything related to sports is looked down. Is it really the way forward? Research has proven playing sports keeps mind and heart healthy. Then why are Indian parents against it? It can be because of the simple fact that they think to rise well in sports you need connections or contacts.

   There should be connection with the sports officials, coaches, staff, etc. To avoid this they want their children to study hard and get good marks often disregarding their need and desire to play. As the saying goes “All work and no play makes jack a dull boy”. For the Indian children instead of work it has become studies.

   Even schools do not promote the culture of sports. Sports can teach young children team spirit, sportsmanship, leadership qualities and what not.....
