Foreign pilots

Domestic airlines have employed 298 foreign pilots and the carriers have been advised to reduce their dependence on overseas pilots. Keeping in view the projected requirements of 1,043 aircraft to be inducted by scheduled airlines over a period of next eight years and air crew/ aircraft utilisation, there is a projected requirement of approximately 12,516 pilots in the country by 2025. * * * * *

Engineering seats

Over 45 per cent seats remained vacant in government-approved engineering colleges across the country in the last four years. The All India Council for Technical Education had received 239 applications from engineering and technical institutes for closure out of which 51 institutes were granted letter of approval. * * * * *
