India’s fast expanding automobile industry, which now accounts for 8% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and provides direct and indirect employment to around 19-million people, is all set to become India’s sunrise sector. The Indian automobile industry, one of the key drivers of the Indian economy, is currently the sixth largest producer in the world with an output of 21.48-million vehicles in 2013-14 that constitutes 22% of the country’s manufacturing GDP.
