Sun set to shine brightly over India

   The abundantly available, non-polluting solar power could very well help the world meet a large part of its energy requirements in the years ahead. India, with an average of 290 sunny days in a year, is uniquely positioned to exploit the inexhaustible solar energy and in the process minimise its dependence on the conventional energy sources.

    Not surprisingly then, the Indian Government led by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi has unveiled a slew of ambitious plans to harness the solar energy in a big way in an eco-friendly and affordable manner. And in a major boost to the solar energy sector in the country, the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has given a green signal to an ambitious master plan of developing 50 solar cities spread across India with a view to reduce the use of pollution causing fossil fuels.

    These cities include Mysuru, Hubbali-Dharwad, New Delhi, Agra, Chandigarh, Gurgaon, Faridabad,....
