Can’t kill the messenger

    Given the way instant messengers and SMS services were getting popular, it wasn’t surprising how cross-platform instant messaging apps shot up in fame. Unlike telecom services these smartphone based messaging apps are free! Not only do they enable free messaging, but also sharing audio/video files and making calls for free. So, apart from the free aspect, what makes these messaging apps a hit? The answer seems to be that it’s a people pleaser. Everyone seems to get what they want, be it sharing images and videos or creating an easy audio/ video global connectivity among people. Today, users are spoilt for choice as many instant messaging apps are available on the app stores across operating systems; Whatsapp, Viber, SnapChat, Line, etc. are just to name a few. Lot of these smartphone based messaging apps have hooked users by many of their ‘never-before’ features like voice note, group chats and graphically-rich emojis. Let’s take a look....
