   “ Hey Onam, Come and Sing a Song for me entering into my heart and to my hut”, says G. Sankarakurup the renowned Malayalam poet. The more we remember the more sweet the memories, the more we celebrate the more rebounds the happiness. Thus Onam is a mesmerizing feeling for mind and festive for the land. Thats what these poetic lines allude to.

   Onam, the festival of festivals arrives during the month of Chingam when nature is at its magnificient best. The clear blue sky, bright sunlight (Onaveyil), cool transluscent white moonlight (onanilavu), Scent of ripened grains, Seasonal flowers adorning the countrysides and rustic pathways, all the vines and branches laden with fruits and vegetables, Onathumbi (Common picture wing) fluttering in air as harbingers of onam on black-spotted golden wings…nature itself gets ready pleasantly for the show unveiling the dark moody karkadakam.
