Movement symbolises life.

   The process of migration is as old as human civilisations, perhaps older. The wild move for greener pastures during seasons and humans move for prosperous opportunities to more developed places. Quality life and sustenance are core drivers of migration.

   People relocate due to economic, social, political, marital, educational, environmental and other reasons. The change caused by this movement effects redistribution of population, both at its origin and destination.

Who is a migrant?

   A person is considered migrant, when he/she is enumerated in a census at a different place than his/her place of birth, according to Census India, Government of India. To a demographer, migrant is a person who changes residences, more-or-less permanently.
