   Video-games addiction or gaming-disorder is ‘problematic, compulsive use of video-games that result in significant impairment to an individual’s ability to function in-various life domains over a prolonged period of time.’ First the good news, most people who play games, online or offline, do not show negative symptoms and don’t fall under gaming disorder purview.

      Now the serious stuff, according to WHO, those who are characterised by a pattern of persistent or recurring gaming behaviour, like, ‘you can’t stop playing’ or ‘you give a priority to playing video games to the point that they take precedence over other life interests and daily activities like sleep, eating and socializing’, all fall under gaming-addiction.
