Onion is the oldest known and most important vegetable crop often known as Queen of the Kitchen. Growing Onions at home is not a big deal. Onions are easy to grow and needs only less space. It has outer scaly leaves and inner fleshy leaves which are edible. The bulb is purple, yellow or white. Other members of the family are garlic, scallion, shallot, leek and chive and can be cultivated in a similar way. Apart from Onion bulbs, its leaves and stalks are also edible and nutritious.
