The highest fort in India, Mehrangarh has a very narrow path leading up to the fort. Two huge doorways positioned on narrow winding road surrounded by houses may look unimpressive but then at last the path opens up and you pass through the second gate and the second line of defense or wall surrounding the main fort.
This path will lead you directly to Mehrangarh. As you move towards the fort, it completely mesmerizes you and then nothing else beholds your attention except the fort. The fort stands on a perpendicular cliff, four hundred feet above the city of Jodhpur. Gleaming in imposing red sand stone, the fort is invincible and has a beauty that beckons your soul. A lot has been written about Mehrangarh /Citadel of the Sun, making it truly impressive. Standing tall and proud, it is an impressive piece of building that was constructed in the 15th century.
Located 400 feet above the city level; the fort gate is massive....
