A major revolution in mobile telephony is under way. It is the next generation of wireless networks, called 5G. It is designed to replace or augment the earlier generation of mobile services. At the same time, its introduction has raised concerns about the efficiency of worldwide weather forecasting.

  The first four generations of cell phones have changed the way we communicate with others. 1G was an analogue technology providing voice capability, limited coverage and mobility. 2G was digital and gave better voice quality and coverage with text messaging service. 3G provided mobile data and multimedia services and basic internet. 4G has been the basis for mobile broadband services with highspeed data and drove smartphones. 5G will provide extreme speed, connectivity and reliability of a very high order and will make most of its applications ‘smart’! The capacity of the network will increase by a thousand times, and its services will arrive....
