Stanford University has recently published an update of the list of the top two per cent most widely cited scientists in various disciplines, which is considered to be the most prestigious ranking in the world, in collaboration with Elsevier BV in the Netherlands.
The selection is based on citations and h-index, 4635 researchers from India (2.2 per cent of the World) have featured, with the bulk hailing from Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT), Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISER), Institutes of National Importance (INI), Central Universities (CU), State Universities (SU), National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER), Deemed Universities (DU), Private Universities (PU), and other premier scientific institutions.
