Professor Ram Nath Shastri, a pillar of Dogri, an Indo-Aryan language spoken by about five million in India and Pakistan, chiefly in the Jammu region of Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh, is a celebrated poet, fiction writer, essayist, dramatist and educationalist, who laid the foundation of modern Dogri literature, and then took upon himself the responsibility of leading the movement of Dogri literature and Dogri culture.

   Shastri ji through his effective writing style in various genres has succeeded in reaching out to the common folks; hence he is considered the founding father of modern Dogri literature. Professor Shastri outshines many stalwarts of the Dogri literature; numerous writers have been inspired by his genius.

   The period prior to the arrival of Independence in India was of awakening where every Indian mind was ignited to shed the chains of foreign slavery and to feel proud of the great Indian culture.....
