The world’s leading climate scientists have given what they call the final warning on global warming. Two economists, who have won this year’s Nobel Prize, have been giving useful suggestions to address the problem. India has, meanwhile, taken the initiative to find a practical route to reduce global warming, which would benefit other solar-rich developing countries as well.
The landmark report of the United Nations Panel on Climate Change, released recently, has warned that there is only a dozen years for global warming to be kept to a maximum of 1.5 °C, beyond which even half a degree will significantly worsen the risks of drought, floods, extreme heat and poverty for hundreds of millions of people. The report by the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) - Global Warming of 1.5 °C - calls for urgent and unprecedented changes needed to reach the target.
