Microwaving food is regarded as the fad way to stay healthy with healthy cooking and healthy eating. Microwave made food may contain less fat, oil etc. But are the containers used to cook really safe and how do you tell a safe container?

Plastic

   High grade plastics make up more than half the containers used in a microwave. But are regarded as a source of dioxins, plastics don’t contain dioxins, they are created when garbage, plastics, metals, wood, and other materials are burned. If you don’t burn your food in a microwave, you are not exposed to dioxins.

   Plastic, the term covers many materials as it contains an array of organic and inorganic compounds. Toxic substances that are added to the plastic to give it shape and to stabilize it are called plasticizers and two of them are :-

1. Bisphenol-A (BPA), added to make clear, hard plastic
