Social Science has gained proper recognition as a core curriculum because it is considered as the minimum essential requirement of school education. The core curriculum is an attempt to provide pupils with an opportunity to experience activities in the school which will make their life in the community more meaningful to themselves and would help them to establish desirable patterns of approach towards their future life.

    Faunce and Bossing define the term core curriculum as “those learning experiences that are fundamental for all learners because they derive from 1. our common individual needs, 2. our civics and social needs as participating members of a democratic society”.Core curriculum provides the irreducible minimum programme regarded as necessary for every citizen to be able to live satisfactorily in a modern society. This will equip the student with the fundamental knowledge essentially required for social living.....
