Litchi (Litchi chinensis) is an attractive, rare sub tropical evergreen tree that bears a luscious red fruit, originated over 2000 years ago in the north tropical rainforests and mountain forests of Southern China (Guangdong), where it is a dominant tree species belonging to the soapberry family (Sapindaceae).
The fact that litchis have appeared ubiquitously and described so broadly in traditional Chinese literature is worthy of discussion and provides sufficient historical materials to support our research,the fruit was highly valued not only for its sweetness and juiciness, but also for its “rareness.” The fruit is usually eaten fresh but can also be canned or dried and the dried pulp is acidic and very sweet.
