Like Arab terrorists, Mexican mafias and black smugglers, Tamil films do have their own share of stereotypes like foreign films. It has always influenced the society as it learns from the latter and teaches them back.

   Some filmmakers have successfully swept out stereotyping and found a home in the industry. As the society changes, Tamil cinema changes too, aptly reflecting the transformation from a pre-colonial man to a confident global millennial. Despite being sensitive to the society and its culture, Tamil cinema still continues to screen their misconceptions of some group of people.

   The general transition of being a social forum to a medium aimed at entertainment as a paramount virtue, films rely on stereotypes as it is convenient for narration and taking the story forward.
