Malabar neem is one of the potential indigenous fast growing forest tree species which are adapted to the wide agro-climatic conditions of India. The tree can be efficiently used as an alternate source of raw materials for pulp and paper industry.

   The wood from this tree is used in Plywood Industry. 400 trees can be planted in an acre that will fetch good earnings in 6 – 7years. The Malabar neem is scientifically called as Meliadubia and often dubbed as “Kattuveppu” in Malayalam, “Malaivembu” in Tamil, “Hebbevu” in Kannada and “Ghoranim” in Hindi.It is commonly found in the hills at elevations ranging from 600 – 1800m.

    A large tree, it attains a height of 20 m. The spreading crown and a cylindrical straight bole of 9 m. length and1.2-1.5 m. girth makes it an ideal plant for timber industry.This tree is naturally found in NorthEast states, hills of Orissa, Deccan....
