The Vyapam case in Madhya Pradesh is a burning example of how youngsters are duped of their money with the promise of a lucrative job in return. Cases of irregularities in entrance tests are not a new phenomenon.

   There have been reports on the same since the mid – 1990’s but hardly any action was taken. In fact the first FIR was lodged as late as the year 2000. But till 2009, these cases were considered insignificant. But after major complaints began to surface in the pre-medical test (PMT) in 2009, the state government and the other relevant authorities took notice and set up a committee to investigate the matter.

   In the year 2011, the committee published its report whereby more than 100 people were arrested. The sheer scale of Vyapam scam came to light in 2013, when the Indore police took action and arrested more than 20 people impersonating as the candidates for the PMT 2009 entrance exam.
