The government to help the country attain self-reliance in defence production, there is a sense of optimism and excitement over the move, thanks to a slew of pro-active measures initiated by the Indian possibility of “Make in India” initiative unveiled by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi giving a forward thrust to defence and aerospace sectors of the country. Indeed, there is growing awareness of Harnessing ‘Make in India’ to boost Defence and Aerospace sectors the need to reduce the quantum of defence hardware import which imposes a severe burden on the public exchequer.

   Currently, two third of the fighting equipment and combat plat forms required by the Indian defence forces is imported.
