Towards the new drive for organic agriculture, coconut waste is gaining major importance since high quality organic manures can be prepared by using its waste materials. Dried leaves which are available in the coconut plantations and coir dust from coir industry are the major wastes. Dried leaves can be converted into manures by using earthworms. Nutrient rich compost can be prepared from coir dust by using the fungus Pleurotus sp. The organic manures prepared by this way can be recycled in coconut plantations itself.

1. Preparation of vermin compost from dried coconut leaves:

   Dried leaves which are available in the coconut plantations which are useful for making vermin compost by 4-6 tons of dried leaves are obtained from the well maintained coconut plantation of 1 hectare area.
