Tapping into the Gandhian model of economics, the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) recently distributed 1750 honeybee boxes among 175 tribals in the Valsad district of Gujarat as part of its ambitions Honey Mission project.

    KVIC selected the Valsad district which has an abundant flora and fauna where beekeeping could open avenues for the farmers, unemployed youth and aspiring entrepreneurs. This development initiative has enthused the tribal people in the Valsad district as it will add to the flora and fauna of the area through cross pollination.

   KVIC came in an action mode following the prime minister’s call for Sweet Revolution in 2016 and launched Honey Mission with a target of distributing at least 75,000 bee boxes across the nation by the end of this year.
