Mirage III

   The Dassault-Breguet Mirage III is Europe’s most successful postwar fighter series. The first prototype flew on November 17, 1956 and almost 1,500 have now been built. Note the simple delta wing shape and half cone intakes.

• Max Speed: Mach 2.2 or 1,455 mph (2,330 km/h)

Mirage F.1

   The Dassault-Breguet Mirage F.1 largely superseded the III/5 series. Instead of the pure delta the F.1 has a swept wing. This gives shorter airfield demands and makes it more suitable for ground attack.

• Length: 50ft. 2 1/2 in. (15.30m)

• Max Speed: Mach 2.2 or 1,455mph (2,330 km/h)
