It has been a good year for sports in India. Though the Indian Premier League is overshadowed by illegal betting scam, it has not deterred the audience from watching cricket.

   Cricket is religion in India, but 2014 saw other sports sharing the limelight. This year, the Indian Football Super League was inaugurated amongst much fanfare on December 12th. We all love to watch the European club football matches, but never imagined such a big football event in our home turf. India has a very rich football history; there was a time when roadside tea stalls would come alive with debates on Mohun Bagan vs. East Bengal match performances.

   Youngsters, who have heard the stories of the historic football matches from their fathers and grandfathers, are naturally excited to watch a match in its new avatar.
