On the back of international passenger traffic accounting for a significant growth last year from the Trichy Airport, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) has asked a few domestic carriers to explore the possibility of operating overseas flights from Trichy Airport especially to the West Asian region.
Talking to news persons here recently, B.C.H. Negi, Airport Director said, ‘We have got in touch with Spice Jet, Jet Airways and Indigo and have suggested that this could be a viable business opportunity for them.’ Given the rise in international passenger traffic in recent years, he was hopeful of more operators exploring services to overseas destinations from Trichy.
