There is no denying that the diesel version of the Maruti Suzuki Celerio is one of the most-awaited vehicles of the year. And the car might finally launch next month as the company has begun its production at its Mansear plant.

Just so you know, Maruti Suzuki has been working on a small 800cc diesel engine for quite a long time which will power multiple small cars from Maruti Suzuki along with an LCV. Earlier, there were rumours that the LCV, codenamed Y9T, would first get this engine, but the company has now decided to introduce it with the Celerio. This 800cc small capacity diesel engine will churn out a maximum power output of 58bhp and a peak torque of 150Nm.

Return an impressive 30kmpl of mileage, the Celerio diesel will become the country’s most fuel efficient vehicle. Transmitting power to the front wheels of the car will be a 5-speed manual transmission that is also found in the petrol model of the hatchback.
