The concept of the Workers’ Education had become the order of the day, particularly in the present-day context of liberalization, privatization and globalization. It is an extremely essential tool for stepping up productivity, profitability and efficiency of industries and overall wellbeing of the workers. India is the only country in the world, where the Government is directly involved in organising Workers’ Education Programmes through constituting a Central Board for Workers’ Education to improve the efficiency of labourers, and in turn industries. It is an admirable contribution of our great leaders. I understand that there is a growing demand from industries to conduct the programmes throughout the country. According to my information, against the annual demand for 8,000 sessions, the Workers’ Education Board could organise only 4,000 sessions across the country.
