Mobility India (MI)’s rehabilitation training courses were unveiled nearly 12 years ago as a timely response to the urgent need of reaching out to the millions of people with disabilities within the country and in similar less resourced settings elsewhere. MI has come a long way since, with the task of developing a second tier of health care professionals - orthotic and prosthetic technologists and rehabilitation therapy assistants - who are now making their services available primarily in rural and remote areas.

   More than one billion people in the world live with some form of disability, of whom nearly 200 million experience considerable difficulties in functioning. The majority of the world’s disabled population resides in the developing countries, including India.
