One of the world’s most ancient tree species — Wollemi Pine — has had a narrow escape from becoming extinct after its discovery in 1994. The botanists only knew the species from fossils until then. The oldest fossil of the Wollemi tree has been dated to 200 million years ago, and the last fossils dating back 2 million years.

   The Wollemi National Park (WNP) in Sydney, Australia has been discharging the Jurassic tree commercially to public worldwide since 2005-06. The Park and some private companies in the country took intensive steps to propagate commercially and conserve the species. The Wollemi tree has been promoted as a Christmas tree in Australia. David Noble, an officer in National Parks and Wildlife Service of New South Wales discovered the dinosaur tree during a trekking.
