Though first published in 1852, this novel by Victor Hugo has successfully captured the imagination of every person who has read it or come to know of it. Written originally in French, the translation of it is available in English and many other languages. It is a big book to read (even the abridged version has over 1300+ pages). It is considered one of the longest novels in English with over 300 chapters and more than ten major characters. But if you take the time to read it, it is sure to be an enriching experience.

The plot of this book is divided into five parts with further divided and subdivided chapters.
