Nature is the most beautiful creation of god and one such place where nature displays its beauty is Matheran. Matheran is a hill station situated about 100 kms from Mumbai and 120 kms from Pune. One cannot believe the existence of such a place just a few kms away from the Mumbai’s busy metropolitan life. Matheran is a hill station in the Raigad district of Maharashtra.It is situated 803 meters (2636 ft) above sea level. It is spread over an area of 8 sq kms. Matheran was first discovered by Hugh Poyntz Malet, the then collector of Thane district. The temperature here ranges from 16 to 31 degree Celsius, hence has a pleasant climate throughout the year. One can visit Matheran between October and May but the best time to visit Matheran is just after monsoon when there is greenery all over.
