Women can’t be called to the police station

   Section 63 of the Criminal Procedure Code provides the women the right not to be physically present at the police station if called. The police can only interrogate a woman at her residence in the presence of a woman constable and her family members or friends.

No arrests after sunset   

   A woman can’t be arrested during the night (between sunset and sunrise), even if she is accused of a crime warranting an arrest. If a woman is accused of a serious crime warranting her immediate arrest, the police have to obtain an order in writing from the magistrate explaining why the arrest is necessary during the night.
