For hundreds of years now, the soft, smooth and lustrous Indian Silk creations in eye catching colours, striking designs and gorgeous patterns have been at the centre of global attraction and appreciation. As things stand now, India along with its neighbour China continues to meet much of the global demand for a range of high-quality silk products. Right now, India stands next only to China in terms of the sericulture output.

   While the sericulture output in India has now touched an all-time high of 23,679 tonne, the export revenue of Indian silk products stands at around US$190-million. India’s silk export enterprise constitutes around 4% of the total textile export of the country. Currently, twenty two Indian states are into the sericulture activities.
