The pacemaker is a petite device that is placed in the torso or stomach to assist and control irregular heart beats. This apparatus uses electrical pulses to regulate the heart beat. The Pacemaker is used to maintain an ample heart rate either because the normal pacemaker of the heart is not quick enough or there is an obstruction in the heart electrical conduction system.
When the pacemaker does not sense a heartbeat within a standard beat time period, it will arouse the ventricle of the heart with a small low voltage pulse. This sensing and exciting action goes on a thump by thump basis.
