I am interested in doing some course in Fine Arts or Dramatics after 12th, but my parents don’t allow me as they feel that I will not get a good job with a good pay in this line. Please inform me about the courses available, the jobs one can get and the starting salaries in the market, so that I can convince my parents. I am studying in the 11th standard. Manjunath.

Courses in fine arts or the performing arts cannot be selected merely because one likes the subject or feels that they would be easier to do. The various subjects here require a high degree of talent and inherent skills. A really good artist or performer, who produces original exciting work, can do extremely well commercially apart from making a name in the chosen field. They say that one has to be gifted with talent and some amount of luck, apart from being hard working to be successful in this line.
