Historical context
It is particularly difficult to construct the prehistory of the 6th century BCE because of the lack of literary and archaeological sources. We do have an idea of what the Vedic period was, which spanned out from 1500 to 500 BCE. It was the age when the oldest scriptures of the Indian subcontinent, the Vedas, were written down.
