The National Education Policy 2020 (NEP) envisions a massive transformation in education through an education system rooted in Indian ethos that contributes directly to transforming India sustainably into an equitable and vibrant knowledge society by providing high-quality education to all, thereby making India a global knowledge superpower. The NEP 2020, founded on the five guiding principles of access, Equity, Quality, Affordability and Accountability will prepare our youth to meet the diverse national and global challenges of the present and the future.
As of now, most of the states, except a few, have either implemented or are in the process of realising the NEP 2020. The Maharashtra government, too, is going ahead with full force to implement the NEP. However, it is yet to fulfill the basic need of providing sufficient number of teachers in government-aided colleges and schools.
