Arrowroot (Maranta arundinacea) is a tropical tuber native to Indonesia. It’s often processed into flour and used in baking, cooking and around the house. Mostly employed in the kitchen, this vegetable works well in sweet and savory dishes alike.

     Since it is high in protein and several nutrients, arrowroot is very easy to digest. This makes it a good choice for children and older adults. Some proponents claim that it may have medicinal properties as well.
