Awash with a plethora of laws and their complexities in India today, it would intrigue us, especially students of law and legal professionals, to know what kind of legal practices were there in ancient India and how it stood the test of time then.
Interestingly, this idea of educating the students of law with those ancient legal practices is taking shape as a diploma course being designed for the students of Gujarat National Law University (GNLU) by the Somnath Sanskrit University, Veraval, Gujarat.
The diploma course will be based on Dharmashastra texts including Yagnavalkya Smriti, Parashar Smriti and other texts which contain code of conduct for people at large to follow.
