The grapes (Vitis Vinifera), a native to Caspian region of Asia requires a sub tropical weather for setting fruits. The black prince and Thompson seedless varieties of grapes are found suitable for individual homesteads.

  The rooted vines are available in registered plant nurseries. Plant the rooted wines in two cubic feet pits in soil. For planting in terrace large concrete planter boxes are preferred. The plant grows well in well-drained organically rich soil. At the time of planting add farm yard manure. Organic manures such as neem cake, ground nut cake and chemical fertilizers are also recommended. The plant responds well to regular manuring and copious irrigation. Adequate plant protection steps should be taken to raise crops in healthy state.
