We flew to Seattle in Washington State to stay in my niece’s home and explore in and around Seattle. The first trip was to Portland in Oregon State covering 580 km by mini-bus through “take tours” for 2 days at $165 each.

Portland

    On the way to Portland, we stopped at Olympia, capital of Washington State to visit the new capitol with multiple facilities. It was constructed in 1928. Its dome with 287 feet height is the tallest self-supporting masonry dome in U.S.A.

   The Legislative Building is home to a large brass bust of George Washington. The nose on the bust became shiny because visitors rub it for good luck. There are 18 art installations and monuments in the campus.

   We then explored International Rose Test Garden covering 4.5 acres in Washington Park at Portland. In 1917, this Garden was launched to serve as a safe haven during World War I for hybrid roses grown in....
