Spirulina the green algae is an ideal dietary supplement having high protein content and very rich in micronutrients, especially beta-carotene (provitamin A), iron, vitamin B12 and gamma-linolenic acid. It is a microscopic, filamentous, spiral shaped, photosynthetic blue green algae belonging to cyanobacteria.
