The history of Indian Freedom Struggle would be deficient without mentioning the sacrifice made by the women leaders and constructive workers. Unlike other countries, women had a larger role to play in the Indian National Movement. They fought with true spirit and impervious courage and commitment. Sarojini Naidu, Kasturba Gandhi, Vijayalakshmi Pundit, Annie Bezant, Usha Mehta and Sushila Nayar are some of the names which are remembered even today for their remarkable contributions both in the battleground and in the political field.

Freedom fighters

   Born into a family of freedom fighters, on 26 December 1914 in Kunjah (Gujarat), which is now in Pakistan, Sushila Nayar was an icon of courage and dedication. She was a treasured physician and close disciple of Mahatma Gandhi.
