Vitamins are organic substances that are essential micronutrients which we need for the proper functioning of our metabolism. They are required in very small quantities that are mostly obtained from our food and are essential for our health. They are divided into fat-soluble vitamins like vitamin A, vitamin D, vitamin E and vitamin K, and water-soluble vitamins like vitamin B-complex which comprises of many vitamins and vitamin C. Different vitamins have different roles in our body and a person requires different amounts of each vitamin to stay healthy. However, deficiency of vitamins, as well as too much of fat-soluble vitamins, is harmful which we will discuss later on.
