An eight-year-old boy who desperately wishes to have a pet dog is informed by his parents that he will instead be getting a baby brother or sister. Thus begins the fun story told in the novella, Baby and Dubdub. Rohan is crazy about dogs and he was feeling left out as all his friends had dogs. And his parents were telling him he would get a squalling, silly little baby sister or a bawling, boisterous baby brother.
See, none of my friends had or have dogs. After the innumerable times I have been chased by dogs (strays as well as pets uniformly had a dislike for my face), the only context in which I would link crazy and dogs was when I felt they should have made a movie ‘Dogs must be crazy’. But that was about to change. As the story progressed, I found myself, at times, grudgingly, liking dogs. That is not to say that I started loving them. I still think the movie should be made, at least about the ones who don’t bat an eyelid before trying....
